If you generated a report or dashboard with a custom template and the data is not limited to your selected campaigns, this may be due to the structure saved in that template. Here is why it happens and how to resolve it.
Why does this happen?
Templates save both the report layout and some specific settings, including the scope of data to display. A template configured to show the whole account or particular campaign metrics retains those settings, even when you select only some campaigns while generating a report.
Practical example:
• A template was saved with 5 campaigns.
• When generating a new report, you select only 2 campaigns.
• To fill the structure defined in the template, the system may automatically add 3 more campaigns, retaining its original configuration.
This happens because the template was configured around a particular data structure. Selecting campaigns during report generation does not necessarily override the information already configured in the template.
How do I resolve it?
To ensure your report reflects the campaigns and metrics you selected, try one of these approaches:
1. Use Reportei’s default template
The default template generates a report based on your selected campaigns and metrics without custom saved settings. It is a basic template that includes whole-account and/or campaign data.
2. Reconfigure your custom template
If you want to keep using a custom template, review and adjust it for your current needs. Remember that saving a template preserves the settings selected at that time.
3. Check the template’s structure
Review the structure of the template you are using. If it is configured for whole-account data, consider adjusting it or creating another template focused on the campaigns you want to monitor.
4. Edit the generated report
You can edit display settings after generating a report, adding or removing campaigns and metrics. Once you have made the changes, you can also save it as a new template.
