On 01/08/2025 Instagram performed an update on its official API which resulted in the discontinuation of certain metrics that were used in Reportei. This change directly impacted reports containing data related to profile views and clicks.
In this article, we explain what changed, how it affects your reports, and what you can expect from now on.
Affected Metrics
With the API change, the following metrics started to show instability and could not be used for a period
- Profile Views;
- Total Profile Clicks;
- Profile Clicks Overview table
What Was Done
After the API change, our technical team analyzed Instagram’s new documentation and adjusted the system to display these metrics again now based on new metrics made available by the platform.
The metrics are now available again to be added to your reports and dashboards
What Changed in the Clicks Metric
Previously, the profile click metric considered all types of interactions. With the API update, we now use the metric called profile_link_taps.
This new metric counts only clicks on specific profile actions like
- Address
- Phone call button
- Email button
- Sending message
Important
As the calculation is now more restricted, it is normal for the values to appear smaller than those recorded previously
What You Need to Know
- The metrics can be added normally to your reports again
- The values may vary compared to what you saw before the change due to the new API definition
- No action is needed on your part; Reportei has already made the adjustments automatically
