Reports and dashboards use those values, along with any calculated or manual metrics you add. The information available through an API can differ from the platform’s own interface because of reporting definitions, restrictions and update schedules.

The sections below explain common reasons for these differences and how to interpret them.

Data history

Historical availability depends on the platform and metric. Some integrations can provide up to two years of data, while others have shorter windows or begin collecting only after connection. Do not assume the same retention period applies to every metric.

Instagram

Reportei builds follower-change and Stories history from the time your account is connected. If you have just connected an account, collection starts then; earlier dates may appear empty because that data was not collected.

Keep the account connected so Reportei can continue collecting these metrics. A later report can cover the dates successfully collected since connection, but reconnecting does not necessarily recover missing days.

Switching a professional account to personal and back can affect access to Insights history. Do not use this as a routine reconnection fix; ask support before making a change that could affect historical data.

LinkedIn

Some LinkedIn reporting metrics have a historical window of up to one year. If an analysis or comparison period extends farther back from the date you generate the report, those metrics may no longer be available. Availability varies by metric and integration type.

Pinterest and Pinterest Ads

Pinterest reporting endpoints use different historical windows and query limits. Some metrics or requests are limited to 90 days, but this is not a universal retention limit for all Pinterest Ads data. If an older period is unavailable, check the selected metric and date range with support.

RD Station Marketing

RD Station Marketing data reaches Reportei through webhooks and API requests:

Webhooks: some conversion and opportunity events are collected only after connection. They do not provide a retrospective event history, so reports can use only the events Reportei actually received. Keep the connection active to build that history.

API: the available history depends on the endpoint and RD Station plan. For email marketing and related asset analytics, Pro accounts have a 45-day query window; Advanced accounts can access older supported data. See the RD Station limitations guide for details.

YouTube, Google Business Profile and Google Search Console may take several days to consolidate recent data. The latest three days can therefore be incomplete or unavailable for some metrics. This is a processing delay, not a restriction that removes older historical data.

Data limitations

A report or refreshed dashboard is a snapshot of the data available when it was generated or updated. Later processing by the source platform can change the values returned for the same period.

When comparing numbers, use the same account, dates, filters, metric definitions and update time. The examples below explain additional differences.

Facebook and Instagram: summed reach versus unique reach

The sum of daily unique reach adds the number of people reached each day. Someone reached on several days can be counted more than once in that sum, so it is not a deduplicated audience for the full reporting period.

Reportei also provides Instagram’s supported 30-day reach metric. Use the metric whose definition matches your question; adding daily or fixed-window figures cannot produce a unique-person count for an arbitrary longer period.

Read the guide to total and unique reach.

Instagram and LinkedIn: organic and paid data

The scope of a metric depends on the integration and the data returned by the platform. Many account and content metrics describe organic activity; some can include paid activity as well. Check the metric helper for its current organic, paid or mixed label instead of assuming every metric has the same scope.

To report on Facebook and Instagram advertising campaigns, connect Meta Ads. For LinkedIn campaigns, connect LinkedIn Ads. These ad integrations provide the campaign reporting that the account’s organic integration does not.

Instagram: metric availability varies by post format

Not every metric is available for every format or media item. For example, shares and follows attributed to a post depend on what Instagram exposes for that content. Older formats such as IGTV, changes to the API and the age of the media can affect availability.

A missing metric does not necessarily mean the post had no activity. Check the current metric helper and supported format, and contact support when a value seems inconsistent.

RD Station Marketing: conversion totals can differ

Some metrics built from webhook events count total conversions or events, while a figure in RD Station’s funnel may count unique leads. A person who converts more than once can contribute several events but only one unique lead. These figures therefore answer different questions and need not match.

Event-based data also begins when Reportei starts receiving it; a period before connection or a gap in collection affects the result. Before comparing totals, check the metric definition and collection period.

See the RD Station limitations guide.

Post-level data

Many post-level metrics use a lifetime value: the total accumulated from publication up to the time the platform returns the data. Selecting posts from a particular month does not necessarily limit those posts’ lifetime engagement to that month.

How does this affect comparisons?

For example, compare a report generated on September 5 that analyzes August and compares with July with one generated on August 5 that analyzes July and compares with June. The same July posts may show higher lifetime values in the September report.

The posts remained available between August and September and may have received more views or interactions. Each report captures a different point in that accumulation, even though both include posts published in July.

For a metric defined as lifetime, the report therefore shows the post’s accumulated result as of data collection, rather than only activity within the report’s selected dates.

This is similar to opening an old Instagram post today: its visible total likes include activity since publication, not just likes received in the month it was published. Check the metric definition before comparing it with a date-filtered account metric.

If you have any questions, contact our support team.

Reportei retrieves connected-platform data through their APIs.
